Considering Dentures or Partials
There are numerous reasons why someone may need dentures or partials. The most common reasons are to replace missing and damaged teeth or teeth that are not healthy enough to restore. Other benefits are that they often help you look younger, aid with chewing, and help you speak more clearly. Many denture and partial wearers find they have the same functionality as their original teeth. It's reassuring to know that there are many different types of dentures and partials, so we can help you determine what treatment is right for you.
Types of dentures
Immediate Dentures
Immediate Dentures are placed immediately after teeth removal. They are more expansive and require more visits to the dentist but are extremely helpful in reducing the swelling in the mouth.
Conventional Dentures
Conventional Dentures are complete upper and lower dentures placed after all teeth have been removed and healing is complete. Gum tissue can take six weeks to several months to heal from removing teeth. While waiting for the tissue to heal, patients can add a “temporary” or an immediate denture so they are never without teeth.
Implant Supported Denture
This is a denture supported by dental implants. It allows the denture to click onto the anchors to feel more secure without needing adhesives or liners. Supported upper dentures can look and feel more like your natural teeth, and they are often made to cover less of the roof of the mouth, making them a very popular option for active denture patients.
Partial Dentures
Partial Dentures are for those with only a few missing teeth. They replace missing teeth by connecting them to healthy teeth that can act as their anchors.
