Born in Fairfax, Virginia, Dr. Mazen Sultan lived in various states and countries, growing up from Texas and Chicago in the US to Bahrain in the Persian Gulf abroad. He feels that his experiences in these places have helped him learn and understand many different cultures. As an undergraduate, Dr. Sultan attended SIU-Edwardsville. He then went to Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. From there, he completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Louisville, where he was educated in advanced and complex dental treatment. After working some time in private practice, he went on to do an Implant Fellowship, where he learned to place and restore dental implants.
Dr. Sultan and his wife enjoy spending time with their daughter and son. Dr. Sultan will tell you his father is his biggest hero. In his words, his father was a man who started with very little and came from a house with meager resources. He worked very hard, never complained, and never made excuses. Dr. Sultan learned from his father that hard work eventually pays off.
In his free time, Dr. Sultan has several hobbies. He enjoys outdoor activities, like hiking and running. Whenever he can, he plays soccer, a passion spanning generations and allowing him to have played semi-professionally in the past. His favorite TV shows and movies include everything from Harry Potter to Grey’s Anatomy, and he is an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Dr. Sultan will tell you that if he wasn’t a doctor, he’d own a restaurant, as he has a passion for food and being in the customer service industry.
Dr. Sultan volunteers whenever he can – helping to feed the homeless, the Special Olympics, or free dental clinics.
